The autumn poets sing

Looking back at my last post, I realized I hadn’t written in days. Sorry for making you worry unnecessarily, and thank you to those who wrote asking if everything was ok. It really is ok here at the moment. My husband continues to get stronger although he’s anxious to get off the steroids and is looking forward to me having off from school for the Thanksgiving Break.

The weekend was mild and Saturday was sunny and lovely, so after my chores were finished, I decided to spend a little time sitting in my favorite chair reading some magazines and enjoying the warmth of the sun on my face. I love feeling the sun on my skin when the weather’s a little bit chilly, don’t you?

This was my view, looking up from my chair into the bare branches of the dogwood tree . . .

Besides the autumn poets sing,
A few prosaic days
A little this side of the snow
And that side of the haze.

Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

This photo was taken last November but I opened it up and used a texture I found through the blog of photographer friend, Kat Warren. Thanks, Kat ~ for introducing me to French Kiss Textures. I signed up for the newsletter and instantly received several freebies.

I used ‘Rosy French Script’ on the one above, and ‘Dandelion Fuzz’ on the leaf below.

Our eldest son arrived on the train last night from NYC and will be staying with us for a few days. I love having him here – we’ve always been close. Last night I stayed up until 12:30 am watching a show that he’s into, which I thought I would loathe. But I’m addicted now, much to my surprise. Whoulda thunk I would like The Walking Dead?

Seriously? Zombies? But to me, it echoes a little bit of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’, a book I think I’ve read about 16 times.

Somebody’s going to get a Thanksgiving bath.

But we won’t say anything about that just yet.

: : :

Enjoy your week, my friends. Until later, then.

Glad to hear things are "uneventful" for you. I was concerned. *hugs* Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday, and cherish this time with your son. but I know I don't have to tell you. YOu do seem to have a gift for being in the moment. we could all take a lesson from you in that skill.

Good to hear from you! I'm glad everything is OK and you got to enjoy some delicious views from your favorite chair.

Poor George... that icky four letter word! Run, George, run! He still puts a smile on my face when I see his photo!

Great job on the textures!

Glad everything is OK and that you're spending quality time with your son.

I've heard people talk about that zombie show. Zombies appear to be very cool these days. Good thing since most days that's what I walk around looking like...

Enjoy the time with your family.

Glad you liked those textures, they really are wonderful! And they look even better when they are applied to your beautiful photos!

Glad your husband is getting stronger! And zombies...well they make me have nightmares so I think I will skip that show! ;-)

Enjoy having your family close by this Thanksgiving!

Can't think of anything I enjoy more than spending time with our son--wish I had two! But then, he's given me two grandchildren, so I guess I'll keep him.

Love bare branches, don't you? But the leaf--oh--that was the finest one of all--just in my opinion, of course. Which counts for little.

I felt the same way about The Walking Dead...I didn't think I would enjoy it. One weekend there was a marathon of the first season ~ after the first show, I was hooked. I never really thought about it but when you mentioned it I realized it does make me think of "The Stand" by Stephen King....one of my many favorites by him.

My lips are sealed on bathing times! Love that 2nd photo ...how do you get that effect? so glad you are enjoying your son and that Andrew is doing well.

Those trees look very brainy veiny.

My husband and son rave about The Walking Dead and I (admittedly) won't give it a chance so I chuckled when I read this Kate. ;) Zombies? I've got books to read and pictures to play with and other fun stuff to do! I'll let them have this show as "their" thing. :) As always...gorgeous photo's. I adore fall. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family Kate.

Glad everything is going well, Kate. Altho I've never been on the steroids, my mom had to take them occasionally, and she said they were really, really tough to take even though they helped her significantly. I imagine your husband is absolutely 'through' with them. The day they are finished must be a celebration!! I watched the Walking Dead last season and thought I wouldn't continue during season 2, but those dern'd zombies pulled me back in (it is kinda formulaic--long, deep discussion, then some zombie killin!). I do enjoy it, though it is over-the-top gory!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving with your family; 8-12 in. of heavy, wet snow with some sleet and wind forecast for us in western Maine tonight and tomorrow! Yikes! Our turkey might be on a permanent thaw!!!

Love The Walking Dead! As someone mentioned in a previous comment, zombies are popular right now! I also loved the stand and all of Stephen King's books!

I love the feel of the sun on autumn and winter days. According to Mr O who knows everything....just ask him...the sun feels warmer during the winter months due to its angle with the Earth. Whatever the reason, it does feel great to sit out of the wind and soak it in...

I am thankful all is well with you and your family and hope you have the best of weeks! If I don't get back this week be sure I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

xoxo

Didnt I tell you about Walking Dead? Awesome ... so awesome .. you must go to NetFlix streaming and watch the first season ... only 6 shows and so worth the watch. You also need to watch (you can see it on Xfinity) The Game of Thrones which ended season one on HBO a few months ago. Oh and if you dont watch Breaking Bad .. you must .. also on Netflix .. OMG ..

I'm with George Eliot...I would love to fly around and chase autumn just for the warmth of that wonderful sun in the cool air. For some reason, that warmth reaches deep inside. I have often clicked right past The Walking Dead at night but I will have to stop by and take a look. Happiness to you and yours!

I love The Stand. About the only Stephen King book I can read without nightmares!

Been thinking of you a lot lately and hoping you're doing well.

Little Cassie is due for a holiday bath too!

Miss you!

Great minds must indeed think alike.... Attagirl was going to get a Thanksgiving bath too, but I got busy packing and ran out of time. She didn't seem too sad over the turn of events!

Enjoy your visit with your son!! It is so nice to have your kids close!
As for the show "The Walking Dead" my hubby and I are addicted to that show as well. We have dinner ready and set up, and both settle in for the show. We wait all week for it! That show and another show called Being Human are our go to shows each week.
Pictures are awesome!
