You light up my life

It’s late as I write this and I should really be in bed. I had an errand to run after work today and didn’t get home ‘til late. I then began reading your comments from yesterday’s Q&A. I always enjoy these and respond to as many as I’m able, but sometimes I still get that darn Noreply-Comment@Blogger.com message.

It’s nice getting to know you. Welcome to all the new faces I see here.

And hey, sorry about the corny post title. Come to think of it, it sort of reminds me of one of my brothers as I was growing up. He was always in trouble, always annoying the rest of us, always wanting attention in any way, shape or form.

My mother gave me some of the best advice on how to deal with a pesky brother. And surprisingly, he stopped bothering me. What I used was this: Every time I wanted to scream at him, I just got close to him and in my most sincere voice told him that he was the light of my life and that I loved him.

This totally freaked him out and I remember having to do it only twice.

It really worked.

Unfortunately I didn’t find out until later in life that he began tormenting my younger sister.

He could be pretty squirrely, that brother of ours.

Squirrels? Did someone say squirrels????

Sorry about that, George.

It's still raining here and earlier today it was raining sideways, the wind was so strong. I can hear it blowing out there despite these thick stone walls. March is surely going out like a lion here in Maryland. What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

What is going on in my neck of the woods? Back to work tomorrow, but the temps are supposed to be in the 60-70's.

Ahhhhh warmth.

Love the warm glow in the second picture. The background beads look like little circles of light themselves! Hope it turns sunny for you soon. :)

I love these pictures and what sage advice your mother gave you! I had/have a very pesky brother too!

The lion is rearing it's ugly head down here in southern MD too!

I thought for sure that today my house was in lift off mode...the wind has blown so hard, 75 mph in some parts of the state.
Thats a good reply for a pesky brother but it never works much on sisters!
I don't have my email out there because I was getting quite a few I didn't want to be bothered with. And I don't like comments coming there instead of to my blog. But if someone needs or wants it,or asks for it..great! Love your pretty light holder, bet it really glows pretty. Come say hi :D

In my neck of the woods they say we may get some rain which would be great. However, 9 times out of 10 when they say we may get rain, we never do...sigh...

p.s. read the title of the post & automatically started singing like I was Debbie Boone...aaack! :)

Oh and see in my best- I can't-sing- voice I love singing that song (You light up my life) to Stig when we're alone....it makes us both laugh...hahahaha...

Was going to use the advice your mother gave you to help Julia deal with her little brother (they fight like cats and dogs sometimes) and I still might considering he has no younger siblings to pick on...who knows...

Today is the little guy's 12th birthday so we'll be making Dirt Desert and having Hamburgers (his request) for his birthday, otherwise it's snowing in all different directions and looking like a nasty day...

Hope you have a great day and loved seeing George...such a cutie!

March is going out like a lion here, too. Brrr!

Great post! And I'd bet you would be surprised to know how many lives you "light up"!

Always a pleasure to visit your blog :)

Well I think I am going to use that line, if you don't mind!

And, we've had rain for three straight days, the colleges actually cancelled classes and the rivers are overflowing.

I love your blog. Your photos are wonderful.

You Light Up My Life is best sung in falsetto at the top of your lungs. It might distract George from those squirrels. :)

Bet it makes for a good little sister/brother/pest deterrent too.

One could infer from the title and the post that we are pesky and bothersome ... one could ... but one knows better! :-)

We have not seen the sun in 5 days. It will be SO welcome when it reveals itself again.

How funny! Hugs work too. Your photos are beautiful once again!

Have a nice (hopefully not rain) day!

I got squirrels for ya, George!!!!
What do you think of wood chucks???

Don't you love that term 'neck of the woods'.....I was just thinking about that term yesterday.

I love that first picture of George!

My world includes bible study class this morning, followed by lunch with the bs class. Although I have an outfit that will work for my son's wedding, I'm keeping my options open and will probably make a trip to Macy's this afternoon. Ah, a trip to the big city!

Ohhh love this one Kate. How's your brother holding up nowadays?

Overhere we're having a storm. No rain (thank God). But I've just almost blown away...
See you around special lady.

LOL Love George's "squirrel" picture! He's a beauty!

Nashville area weather: Sunny, slight breeze, upper 70s - low 80s for the next 3 days.

Perfect for moving my cannas and planting 3 new roses.

I had a pesky brother too. Older and mean. I survived him and am a better person for it. I need to remember that pointer to tell Ladybug for when Ty starts in on her ;0)

My neck of the woods is your neck of the woods. We share our weather as we share many other interests too ;0)

Yesterday and the rest of this week we were in the 70's. Actually very nice - so sorry I can't send some of it your way!

I adore the pictures of George. He's so handsome! Reminds me of my dog in his shape, but mine is only 1/2 Border Collie. She gets her coloring from the Australian Shepherd side of her family.

Finally we have hit spring here but really closer to summer with upper 70's and 80's...but I love it!

BIG LION for me too. My back is sore and I am tired from wet vacuuming the basement. FlyBoy stayed home to keep up with it. Looking forward to some sun!

It's lamb-y here in NW Illinois. Today the sun is shining and it's supposed to be in the mid-70's which is unusual this time of the year for us. Yahoo! now if I just wasn't stuck in this office all day. ;)

At least the rain's stopped here...

lol...I can just picture you with your brother. Excellent advice! Beautiful photos of sweet George. It's cool & wet over here, but I think I see the hint of blue in the sky. One can only hope.

LOL @ Daryl. I think we may be starting to dry out up here. And I mean that in a good way;)

The sun is actually peeking through today. Yay!!! And it's supposed to be in the 60's-70's by Easter. Double yay!!!

I love all the photos today, especially the beautiful bokeh in that second candle one...

Hope you are enjoying some sun today, too. :)

Didn't mean to comment 12,000 times for yesterday, but it told me that my word verification didn't match up....sorry.
Other than the sewer backing up into my downstairs bath, it has been a great week here, warm, sunny, and spring like....smiles.

You should write more late at night. I laughed out loud when I read this, George looking for squirrely things, and had to explain to the hubs, and it got lost in translation......oh well, you know.
Anyway it's absolutely beau-ti-ful here a few miles south of you and I have been going out and just sitting and absorbing....it's your turn soon....promise.

umm lovely little glow...and the brother story...oh I have 5 brothers and only 1 of them tortured me to death. I wish I had know your little secret....hehehe

Nothing going on in this woods here in the Blue Ridges. Re-did my blog but still needs some tooling done and oh my... our weather has been gor-jus!!!

I had a pesky brother too!

Okay, all I can say is hahahahaha!
I have a brother like that. I have a dog like that. I am still laughing...

All my brother had was me so there was no one else to pester! I love photos of lights. They give you a warm homey feeling and that's what I felt looking at yours. After 2 weeks of sun and temperatures in the 70's, we are having cold (40's), gray weather through next week. I miss the sun and warmth already. Although by summer when we reach the 100 degree mark, I will be back to wishing for this weather! :0)

March sure is going out like a lion, isn't it! Flooding everywhere! I can't wait to finally see the sun tomorrow.

Oh squirrels, pesky squirrels. Lily watches them through the door as they sit on the deck railing eating seed, soaked to the skin. She longs for a good chase. She and George would make a fine team!

I had two older brothers. No sisters. My oldest brother was so mean to me, I just hated him for many years, and vice versa. We get along now but unfortunately he's an alcoholic who's slowly destroying his life. Odd and sad how things can turn out.

Poor George - tormented by the word squirrel. We don't have squirrels at the house except for flying squirrels. THEY torment the dogs something fierce.
