Oh, good grief

And ding dang diddly combined with it. Okay. It's difficult to type. Yet again!

You've heard about my unfortunate incident involving a glass that broke in my hand earlier this month, right? As you can see, it's healing just fine. But what is that big boo boo thing on my finger? Wel, when I visited the hand surgeon after the initial ER visit, he was more concerned with something other than the stitches. I never mentioned this because I didn't think it was such a big deal at the time.
I had a small cyst removed from the joint of my finger; the same finger that I just cut. I won't go any further into it, other than to tell you that I have to keep this big splint and bandage on it for the next two weeks. I can't get it wet or dirty.
I was pretty depressed about the whole thing, mainly because something has been wrong with this finger since the 6th of this month, and I type for a living. I mean, typing is a big part of what I do. Think, for a moment, about all the things you do with your hands and fingers. I can't wash my face with two hands for the next two weeks. Writing is going to be a trip, too. Filling up my car with gas? How cumbersome. And the dishes? Well, I won't miss them.
I got over it pretty quickly, though. I mean, this is nothing really, compared to the troubles of others. And just to show what a good sport I am about the whole ordeal, I'm giving something away on this blog tomorrow. Something for Halloween, too. So stop back to see what I have for you.
Ok. I need a drink now. I think I'll go get a glass of milk. And a cookie.

Until tomorrow, my friends.

Milk???? Girlfriend, you need something stronger than that. And for what it's worth, I am so sorry to hear about this. Maybe George can start taking dictation. I know he can do anything if he puts his mind to it.

Ha! It's not terrible. Just cumbersome. And I like milk. Besides, it's about the strongest thing I have in the house right now.

It's just a small clue, Heidi!

I like milk and I am not ashamed of it. It goes nicely with cookies, too.

Yes, I must admit at bedtime milk is good..though I have to skip the cookies bit, as the sugar wakes me up in the middle of the night...cheese on toast is about as exciting as I get!

As others have said, hope the finger heals nicely for you. And as you said , it is good that these trials remind us of others with bigger problems than our own!

Annie

ps Having said that I am not looking fwd to seeing a surgeon re my silly shoulder tear. Afraid , like you of being wrapped in bandages for weeks..mmm...oh well, whatever will be, will be..

Oh well, just think about me having to be swathed in a "boobs to butt" back brace for three months! That is, WHENEVER I get called to go in for my surgery! But seriously, I am sorry about the nuisance you're having to go through. And hey, splash a bit of Kalhua in that milk! You'll LOVE it. lol

A contest? Really? I LOVE contests! Sorry about your finger, Kate. I had a ganglion cyst removed from my thumb many years back. Getting out of dishes is the only ray of sunshine from your surgery. Your hubby is quite sweet to help. Mine has absolutely no bedside manner -- zero, zilch, nada.

Kate, Oh my Gawd! That looks bleeping painful!!! Can you get some rubber or latex gloves or something that you can put on there so you can at least wash your face?

Holy toledo!

Looks awkward and no fun at all to have an index finger out of commission. Calling angels of patience and good humor to congregate around you!

Enjoy the milk and cookies and especially the "NO dish pan hands" for a few more weeks. Ha. Poor hubby, but hey, he loves to cook, so now he'll love to clean as well.

No dishes for a while... no problem! I think once you are healed up you should just keep wearing that bandage for a day or two longer.... stretch out not doing the dishes!

I was wondering why you didn't post yesterday. Man, that stinks! Hopefully, two weeks will go by in a snap (oops, maybe not a snap of the fingers...) and by the time the trees are really turning, you'll be ready to take some super pics and write all about it.

Until then, milk and cookies sounds good to me. Chocolate sounds even better. :)

Oh, poor baby! But everything in perspective and if you cannot complete your day to day activities as normal, well, it is a cumbersome and annoying. So you have a right to be down about your finger...just keep your head up and be positive.
A give a way, huh? Wow! I can only guess as to what that may be...

*gasp* - isn't that your shutter-finger???

Man the lengths you'll go to to keep that man of yours in the kitchen cooking and doing dishes...

(really though, sorry about the continuing hand problems!)

That owie must be a real nuisance. If it was your middle finger you could justifiably go around with it sticking up and no one could accuse you of being rude. Best medicine? a good single malt scotch with one ice cube.

Make it chocolate milk, chocolate makes everything better! (And Ice cream is my drug of choice, it soothes the nerves)
I hope that you heal quickly. I'm so sorry that you are incapacitated again.

Thanks for thinking of me during my move. We are getting settled in. I still feel like I'm surrounded by boxes, but the stack of empty ones in my driveway gives me some hope.
*hugs*

Oh crap, who's going to do the dishes now? Poor you, that does not look fun..can't get it wet...yeah that will be easy! Sending hugs your way!

Elaine, damn girl! That actualy sounds good. I used to be a bourbon drinker.

Thanks for all the hugs. You guys make everything great!

And Dlyn, YES IT IS!!! Dang! I mean Damn.

Sounds painful. I'm sure a rest will do it good. I expect George is giving you plenty of TLC.

Power of suggestion.....wait...... wait..... NOW that I have MY milk and cookies (note the plural), I want to wish you speedy healing! Get in some good reading and resting and enjoy walking outside in this beautiful time of year..

womaninawindow said...

Oh, I don't want to read too much into this. Hope it all turns out ok. Your husband has to be loving the dishes anyway. You wouldn't want to take that away from him, right?

Sara G said...

Oh no....It's even your picture taking finger...thank goodness you have other fingers to press that button if need be!!
I hope you heal fast and complete.
Take care

Poor you. I hope there's nothing serious going on and that you heal very quickly.

Denise said...

Oh my, I am just catching up here and saw this. I wish you fast healing.

If that were me it would last about a day or two before it was covered in food, ink, dirt or water or all of the above. I have a terrible time minding the medical professionals. Here's to a speedy healing process.
