Somebody's happy to see me

George was stuck with gimpy today. Totally boring for him. For those not in the know, I'm gimpy. My husband just wanted a break, I guess, so George got to watch me cleaning and vacuuming, then for a treat, he got a ride in the car. He LOVES that. By the time we got back, we'd been to four different places and I could not wait to get home and put my knee up on ice. Then my husband came home from work and immediately took George out for his Big Walk of the day. They went to the sitting place, which is a nice long walk, but no owls came around today. After the ice on the knee, I made my new favorite drink and headed out back to sit for a spell in the sun. We don't really say sit for a spell around here. I just threw it in there. Anyway, there I was out back in the sun, with my knee up and my drink and my camera. I noticed they were on their way back because a couple of deer ran out from the woods into the horse paddock down below. Then a great blue heron got spooked up. Then a kestrel (or some kind of hawk) and shortly afterwards, they came through the gate.

MOMMY'S OUT HERE!!!!

George seems to be thinking that. And he runs towards me.

How happy does this pup look?

He's just had his muddy bottom-half hosed off and when I look closely, I can see the water droplets coming off of him.

I'm sure my husband is hoping that another photo of him will appear on this site. Not really. He's pretty shy in real life.

I'm not.

I think that's why he likes me.

The Young's have their priorities right! (George included) Enjoy the simple pleasures in life...remembering that life isn't getting from point A to point B, but the journey in-between. Happiness, tranquility, and a good new-favorite drink...which is what??? Perhaps that can be my nirvana until Steven returns of course! Ha,ha!

George would win the Happy Dog Contest with that second photo. Super! You caught him just right.

And your hubby.....you caught him just right, too.

Continue to feel better and rest enough.

Alisa, I am so excited for you that Steven is returning this week from Iraq! I have a big smile on my face just thinking that your family will be together again!!!

I get the feeling you won't like the drink, but you always surprise me. It's Yukon Jack, a bourbon liqueur, and it's mixed with fresh grapefruit juice and a splash of grenadine. Mmmmmm.

Jeannelle, so true. This is my husband with his dog.

Beachy, I tried to get on your site and I am now officially getting faster internet. You have so much cool stuff that it was taking too long to come up. I love the name Cubby.

Mental P, you are so right. I'm putting this last pic in a frame!

I liked the photos a lot. What I noticed about your husband's photo is that he is wearing a Carhartt coat! I was talking to someone a while ago and they had never heard of Carhartt. I was shocked. Out here in Iowa I think Carhartt is the official clothing of the state!

We have a store in Des Moines that specializes in Carhartt clothing for both men and women. They even sell Carhartt walking shorts which, well, seems a bit strange since most men who are prone to wear Carhartt clothing are not usually the walking shorts type of guy. I could be wrong, but I only wear long slacks or jeans and, well, have never been a walking shorts kind of person...

I remember seeing a few men in the larger towns who would wear yellow or red slacks as they headed out to the golf course. I told people if I ever wore something like that to immediately shoot me to put both myself and others out of misery!! Oh well....

Go Carhartt! Maybe some day they will make Carhartt dress wear so I can wear a nice Carhartt shirt, tie and slacks to work...!!

What a fabulous series of shots! George really is grinning from ear to ear. These should be entered in a contest of sorts - like a pet calendar or something even better than that! Would love to tussle with George myself. :D

Keep that knee up!

My husband NEVER reads this blog. I forced him to look at this post and these were his words.

"NO!!! I'm in a picture! I look weird. Oh God, shoot me now." And then he handed me a cookie that he had just baked. I love this man. Usually all the time.

I think he's being ridiculous. Especially since I've just read him back what Russell just wrote. My husband has always been a Carhartt man. No Wrangler jeans here, he's Carhartt all the way. So Russell is ok with him. And he can't believe that people write me and say the things they do. And why am I telling them that I drink all afternoon in the yard? It's kinda funny.

Olivia, I couldn't help it. I just posted about your blog. And tj, always good to hear from you. I agree on your post idea! Leslie, I actually am thinking of doing a calendar. You and other are inspiring me!

YAY!! More George photos! Just seeing him brings a smile to my face. You can't help feel happy when looking at him!

Tell you husband that he's handsome and not look weird at all. Men! You know we tend to think they don't care about how they look but deep down they do. LOL

George looks like one happy dog there. Oh, a pic of your hubby. SuperGuy is starting to roll his eyes at me when I get my camera out and point it his direction. But, if you're husband is going to feed you cookies, well, what's not to love?

As an aside...that drink sounds nasty...

Great blog and photos. Not sure if George would agree with the amended equation but in my golden's lives, the equation is Dog + Water + Stick = Nirvana.

I told my husband he was handsome and he just smiled. Welcome to Kars and Doris. Doris, I've seen you here before, I think.

Kacey, thanks. I knew you'd hate it!!
